COPENHAGEN ONE OF THE WORLD’S GREENEST CITIES
In a recent article published in the New York Times, Copenhagen ranked number five out of 31 places to go in 2010. Among other things, bicycle culture and the clean waters of the Copenhagen channels are highlighted.
According to the article, the people of Copenhagen are not only talking about green lifestyle – they are simply living it. With extensive bicycle paths characterising the townscape of the capital, tourist are offered an exceptional opportunity to rent a bike and experience the city on environmentally friendly as well as convenient means of transportation.
Furthermore, a project on establishing a new outdoor public bath in the area of Østerbro complements the tendency also seen in the inner harbour districts of Copenhagen, namely, that former polluted waterways and industrial areas are now being used as bathing water and summertime hubs rendered possible by anti-pollution policies.
